Russian President Vladimir Putin’s approval rating has hit a new all-time high, according to data from a recent poll of its citizens, RT reports.
According to the report, the data from the latest poll shows that 85 percent of Russian citizens trust President Vladimir Putin and 74 percent said they would vote for him – again – if the presidential elections were to be held next weekend.
Putin’s current approval rating of 85 percent is up 10 percent from the same period last year where his approval rating was at 75 percent, according to the report.
The share of those who said they were ready to vote for Putin was also up from 45 percent from the same period last year, the report claims.
The poll was conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation on February 7-8 and released on February 13.
In early December, Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on the surge in the president’s popularity in an interview with RT. Peskov said that in his opinion, `Putin did not need any publicity, bad or good, and the people’s love for Putin was a manifestation of their love for Russia’.
